The Management Academy at Archbright is a cohort learning program designed for experienced managers who are ready to take their skills to new heights. This team-based format builds an invaluable skillset in today’s workplace. Participants engage in enriching discussions with colleagues who come from a diverse range of industries and professional roles.

 

Program Description

This course consists of six modules that take place over the course of six weeks. Participants attend class one half-day per week, providing an opportunity to put learned skills into action before returning to discuss results with the cohort.

The modules in this program include:

Module 1: Defining Myself
After completing this course, participants will be able to: 

  • Recognize the value of defining themselves more deeply as a leader
  • Understand the four quadrants of Emotional Intelligence
  • Describe the value of improving in each quadrant of Emotional Intelligence
  • Define specific elements of self-awareness
  • Use their CliftonStrengths assessment as a foundation to develop self-awareness and leadership abilities

Module 2: Managing Myself
After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Use awareness of their inner state to stay flexible and positively direct their behavior
  • Recognize what gets in the way of focusing on what is most important
  • Leverage the brain science behind the power of flow to increase creativity and positive outcomes
  • Understand how to manage emotions and thoughts to direct behaviors for improved results
  • Increase mindfulness in day-to-day life to become less reactive to stressful situations
Module 3: Understanding Others

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize sources of difficulty in communication through the Interpersonal Gap model
  • Work effectively with others by understanding DiSC behavioral styles
  • Use active listening skills to manage relationships effectively
  • Become more effective at delivering feedback and coaching employees

Module 4: Developing a Team
After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • List the characteristics and operating norms of a highly engaged team
  • Assess the current state of their own team
  • Apply a conflict-resolution process and use coaching or feedback to improve engagement and results
  • Facilitate a discussion to clarify operating norms for how a team works together and treats each other
  • Create an action plan using specific tools and resources to aid in developing their highly engaged team

Module 5: Building a Business Case
After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Conduct a current situation analysis and create a concise statement of the desired state
  • Assess stakeholder needs and concerns
  • Calculate Return on Investment (ROI) and other important success measures
  • Clarify roadblocks, risks, and constraints
  • Build a business case and plan to present it

Module 6: Implementing Change
After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • List steps to implement a change strategy
  • Understand how to sell an idea to others and overcome resistance
  • Recognize individual reactions to change and decide on appropriate leadership strategies
  • Monitor and adjust when implementing a change strategy
  • Implement a change strategy based on a real-world situation.

Duration: One ½ day session per week for 6 weeks

Our live, instructor-led classes are designed for, and rely on, active participation to ensure a quality learning experience. Because of this, these sessions will not be paused and will not be recorded for future use or reference.

The Management Academy is a commitment that participants make to themselves and to each other. Regular attendance is essential to ensuring a high quality cohort experience. Because of this, we ask that participants make every effort to attend each week. Cohorts will be paired up during the first session so peers can share any missed information in case of an absence.
