Onboarding in Align
The Align onboarding process walks you through setting up access, visibility, and scheduling for features like Wrap-Ups, 1:1s, Shout Outs, and Rocks to ensure alignment, transparency, and engagement across your organization. You’ll then configure performance modules—such as goal setting, job description assessments, values analysis, and competency reviews—along with admin settings, prompts, and review cycles to complete the setup and confirm everything is live.
1. Click on Overview under the Align main navigation.
This opens the Align feature where you set up onboarding, performance, and engagement features.

2. Follow these onboarding steps to configure Align properly. You do not have to complete them all now.
Moves you into the next setup screen so changes are applied in order.

3. Click on Seat Management, this will bring you to the Seat Management in Settings.

4. Click on Select All Employees

5. Click on Actions

6. Click on Assign Align Access

7. Click on dropdown to set Align Access to Employees.
Select Allow Access.

8. Click on Assign Align Access

9. Return to Align Onboarding, but selecting the Overview under the Align navigation.

10. From Onboarding, click on Next

11. If an employee does not have a manager, you can click on Actions

12. And then click on Change Manager

13. Select the manager of the employee.

14. Click on Assign Manager

15. Click on Next

16. Click on Select Everyone or Disable
Controls visibility: “Everyone” makes the feature org-wide, “Disable” hides it.

18. Click on Everyone - The Weekly Wrap-Up's features is visible to everyone in the organization
Ensures all employees can see the Wrap-Up for alignment and transparency.

19. Click on Friday
Schedules the Wrap-Up to capture the entire week’s progress.

20. Click on Thursday, or whatever day works best for your organization.
Alternative scheduling if you want to prepare insights earlier.

21. Click on Friday

23. Click on Next
Confirms your Wrap-Up schedule and continues setup.

24. Click on Select Everyone or Disable
Determines visibility for 1:1s.

25. Click on Everyone - The 1:1s features is visible to everyone in the organization
Makes the 1:1s feature available to all managers and employees.

26. Click on Next
Proceeds once visibility is confirmed. The Success pop-up confirms the feature was activated correctly.

27. Click on Select Everyone or Disable
Controls who can access Shout Outs.

28. Click on Everyone - The Shout Outs features is visible to everyone in the organization
Makes recognition public to encourage culture-building.

29. Click on Next
Proceeds to the next step in setup.

Stores the updated ordering of values.

39. Click on JD Assessment - Employees and managers review job roles and evaluate performance alignment.
Lets managers and employees align on job expectations.

40. Click on dropdown trigger
Opens the next review category.

41. Click on Values Analysis - Reflections on how employees demonstrate your organization’s values in day-to-day work.
Captures how employees live out organizational values.

42. Click on dropdown trigger
Opens competencies setup.

43. Click on Competency Review - Employees and managers assess employee performance against key role-based competencies.
Allows assessment against role-based skills.

44. Click on Save Cycle Preferences
Locks in your review cycle structure.

45. Click on Next
Finalizes onboarding setup and confirms completion.

46. Open Admin Settings to configure org-level preferences for your performance cycle.

47. Go to Develop to set goals and objectives that guide employee growth across the cycle.

48. Open Employees to choose who participates in this cycle.

49. Use Selected… to filter and include only the intended employees.

50. Click Save Cycle Preferences to lock your participant selections and timing.

51. Open Module Settings to customize fields, prompts, and visibility for this module.

52. Click here to add a custom prompt employees will answer in the Develop module.

53. Enter: “Indicate if you are participating in professional career development for this year.” (exact text).

54. Click Save Settings to apply the new prompt to the module.

55. Go to Onboarding to manage what new participants see first.

56. Select Design Goals to define goal templates, categories, and guidance.

57. Open Quarterly Review Pieces to choose which artifacts appear in each review.

58. Navigate back to the Dashboard to verify your module settings are live.

59. From the Dashboard, preview an employee view to confirm the prompt and goals appear as expected.
