Course Description

Navigating Washington's workers' compensation system can be complex and costly without a solid understanding of state-specific regulations. Mismanaged claims can result in increased insurance premiums, production delays, and diminished employee morale, ultimately affecting the organization's bottom line.

In this course, participants will learn how insurance costs are calculated, how they can be lowered, and how to implement proactive safety strategies, including hazard identification and incident investigations. Attendees will also learn claims management best practices to ensure compliance with laws such as the FMLA and the ADA. A key focus will be implementing an effective return-to-work program and utilizing state reimbursement programs like Stay-at-Work. This interactive training breaks down Washington's legislative framework into practical, user-friendly concepts, promoting open discussion and real-world application.

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Define key terms surrounding Washington Workers’ Compensation insurance and experience rating, such as risk class and experience factor
  • Get injured employees back to work (as soon as medically approved and get reimbursements from L&I’s “Stay at Work” reimbursement program
